LTAB 2015

Every year spoken-word poetry groups from around Massachusetts, come and share their stories on a main stage during a state wide competition. 'Louder Than A Bomb’  is one of the largest youth poetry festivals started in Chicago by poets Anna West and Kevin Coval in 2001. It has grown so big that an organization called “MassLEAP” actually brought it to Boston in 2012.

The point of this competition is to bring teens from all areas together to tell their stories. According to the MassLEAP website, “Louder Than A Bomb aims to bring together a diverse group of teens through a friendly competition that emphasizes self-expression and community via performance poetry.” The talented youth that participate in LTAB bring real world issues like race, education, sexual orientation, mental illnesses, and a variety of other topics to educate and inspire a generation for change.
This year LTAB received over thirty-two teams who demonstrated beautiful and heart-moving poetry in the preliminary rounds and semi-finals, but now there are four teams that will be moving on to final stage. The final will happen on Thursday, May 23rd at The Boston University Theatre. Doors open at 6 p.m. and tickets can be purchased at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1601580.
